– Strong technique for balance and free leg movement
– A challenging choreographed routine to practice embellishments

With Veronica Toumanova, Silvia Bivolaru and Winston Veerender

Tango Amistoso + Verotango

In the current situation many of us are again confined to our homes, which brings up the question: how can we keep up our love for tango alive and improve in the process? In this upcoming workshop we will focus specifically on FOLLOWERS to whom we are offering a new and exciting challenge. It will allow you to refresh your basic technique but also to take your embellishments, musicality and quality of movement to a new level.

We will do this by teaching you a choreographed routine which you will study with us in the last part of the workshop and that you will be able to use afterwards as solo practice material. This routine will make practicing more fun but will also help you understand when, how and why we use embellishments in our dance.

The workshop will consist of the following parts:

1. Warming up for the challenge: stretch and move your body, wake up your legs and feet. Posture and grounding exercises to prepare the technical work.

2. Basic technique exercises for leg projection and backward walking exercises.

3. Technique exercises for forward ochos with dissociation, introducing a simple embellishment.

4. Choreographed routine incorporating walking, changes of directions, pivoting, paradas, pasadas, ochos, free leg movement, spiced with plenty of embellishments. We will perform this routine differently to different music, allowing you to connect to various orchestras. This sequence will be challenging, but very effective for your balance, speed, legs, footwork but most importantly: it will be fun!
