Tango Teacher Training

A Structured Mastery Pathway for Dancers & Future Educators

More Than Teacher Training — A Pathway to Mastery

The Tango Amistoso Teacher Training is a structured, system-based programme designed for:

  • Dancers who want to reach advanced, refined levels of tango
  • Aspiring teachers
  • Existing teachers seeking structure and clarity
  • Community leaders and organisers

You do not need to want to teach professionally to join.

Many participants enrol simply because they want to:

  • Understand tango deeply
  • Refine their dancing at a high level
  • Gain clarity about communication and structure
  • Develop creativity grounded in principles

This programme develops serious tango dancers — teaching is one possible outcome, not the only one.

Tango as a Language: The Grammar Points System

At Tango Amistoso, tango is approached as a language.

Like any language, it has:

  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar
  • Structure
  • Communication layers
  • Context and culture

We have documented and organised these principles into a structured framework known as the Grammar Points System.

Rather than teaching isolated sequences, we teach:

  • The architecture of movement
  • The mechanics of communication
  • Structural musical interpretation
  • Social and community grammar
  • Aesthetic and expressive refinement

This makes tango:

  • Clearer
  • More teachable
  • More creative
  • More precise
  • More transferable

Advanced dancers gain clarity.
Teachers gain structure.
Communities gain consistency.

Mindfulness & Cognitive Awareness in Tango

This programme integrates:

  • Attention training
  • Motor learning principles
  • Flow state awareness
  • Structured internal processes

We explore what happens in the mind while dancing:

  • How leaders generate intention
  • How followers interpret and process proposals
  • How attention moves between body, partner, and music
  • How to enter and sustain flow

This develops dancers who are not only technically strong — but mentally clear and present.

Two Development Pathways: Leaders & Followers

We recognise that leaders and followers develop through different internal processes.

Leader Development

  • Creative generation of movement
  • Communication clarity
  • Timing and intention
  • Adaptive decision-making
  • Expanding expressive vocabulary

Follower Development

  • Perceptual clarity
  • Processing communication
  • Intelligent execution
  • Autonomy within structure
  • Refinement of response mechanisms

Both pathways are structured within the Grammar Points framework.

Who This Programme Is For

This training is suitable for:

  • Advanced and advancing dancers
  • Dancers with 3+ years of consistent experience
  • Aspiring teachers
  • Existing teachers seeking systemisation
  • Dancers who want deep structural understanding

You do not need to be teaching to benefit.

If you love tango and want to understand it fully, this programme is for you.

Enrol Individually or With a Partner

Participants are welcome to join the Tango Teacher Training either individually or together with a regular dance partner.

The programme is structured to support individual development for both leaders and followers, and partner rotation remains an important part of the learning process.
For those who wish to train alongside a consistent partner, you are welcome to enrol together. This can provide additional continuity in development and shared reflection throughout the programme.

Both pathways — enrolling alone or with a partner — are fully supported within the structure of the training.
