Tango Workshop Details

Origins of Argentine Tango — Canyengue & Orillero

Canyengue ("to walk with rhythm and character") and Orillero ("from the shore") are the original styles of Argentine Tango, born among dockside workers and in the city’s outskirts.

Danced to classic orchestras like Canaro and Fresedo, this workshop explores their unique rhythms, embrace, structure and decorations — helping you embody the playful, grounded quality of Canyengue and the elegant, spacious flow of Orillero.

Be ready to experience the real soul of Tango Argentino.

Leo and Tracey Acosta teach this special Open Level workshop from 7:30–9:00 p.m. at 10 Herbal Hill, Farringdon, followed by Milonga Maitrī from 9:00 p.m. to midnight and their performance at 11:00 p.m. The workshop costs £25, or £12.50 for Tango Amistoso subscribers.
