London Tango Weekend
Leo and Tracey Acosta join us on Friday 13 November 2026 for Origins of Argentine Tango — Canyengue & Orillero, followed by Milonga Maitri and their special 11:00pm performance.
Their visit opens a full London tango weekend: a chance to explore tango’s roots on Friday, welcome Leo and Tracey onto the London dance floor, and continue learning and dancing through Saturday and Sunday.
Friday’s special workshop
Origins of Argentine Tango — Canyengue & Orillero
Canyengue (“to walk with rhythm and character”) and Orillero (“from the shore”) are original styles of Argentine tango, born among dockside workers and in the city’s outskirts. Danced to classic orchestras such as Canaro and Fresedo, the workshop explores their rhythms, embrace, structure and decorations—helping dancers find the playful, grounded quality of Canyengue and the elegant, spacious flow of Orillero.
