 WORKSHOP #1: FRIDAY CLASS (1hr)
“Comfortable embrace”

The quality of the embrace is often the one thing we remember from dancing with somebody. It is also often what we find most uncomfortable about the other person. Our own embrace can be a source of discomfort as well. In this workshop we will work on creating a relaxed, flexible, functional and above all comfortable embrace. We will look into close and open embrace, as well as optimize your posture. You will learn how to embrace each other without tension, without hurting your arms, back and shoulders, and without hurting your partner.

Date: Friday, 11th February 2022
Time: 7.30pm to 8.30pm
Cost: £15 (Milonga included) each
Location: St Boniface Church Parish Hall,
185 Mitcham Road,
London

WORKSHOP #2: SATURDAY CLASS (2hr)
“Back sacada technique for leaders and followers”

Back sacada is at once the most fun and the most potentially uncomfortable and unsafe sacada that exists. On top of that, back sacadas required quite a solid dissociation, pivoting and projection technique, perfect timing and perfect aiming in order not to bruise our partner’s legs. In this workshop we will work on the technical aspect of the back sacada movement, for leaders and followers, on the dissociation, accommodating the embrace, finding balance and the proper insertion point. We will try back sacadas for leaders and followers in different combinations. Once it works, back sacada becomes one of the most delicious and dynamic moves to dance!

Date: Saturday, 12th February 2022
Time: 6pm to 8pm
Cost: £25 (Practica included) each
Location: Tango Amistoso
24-27 White Lion St.
Islington

WORKSHOP #3: SUNDAY CLASS (2hrs)
“Irregular rhythmic patterns”

When we start learning tango, we often dance to very regular, repetitive rhythmic structures. Our nervous system also tends to prefer regular repetitive rhythms because they are easier to follow, so we often end up in a rut. If we want to dance to the song’s melody, add syncopation and accents, or follow a particular instrument, we need to be able to identify and dance to irregular rhythmic patterns. In this workshop we will explore several irregular patterns, changing from rhythmical to lyrical, accelerating, slowing down, syncopating and freezing our movement. We will also work with the notion of “dancing the melody” as opposed to “dancing the rhythm”.

Date: Sunday, 13th February 2022
Time: 6pm to 8pm
Cost: £25 (Practica included) each
Location: Tango Amistoso
